Currently Enrolled Students
How to Appeal a Dismissal
Current students who have been dismissed from the College of Arts and Science or their current academic unit may still be considered for continuation through an official appeal to the College of Arts and Science. This appeal is only for students who wish to declare a major in the College of Arts and Science.
We strongly recommend that students considering appeal include an honest and thorough reflection, as well as a clear, detailed plan for academic success. In addition, students are strongly encouraged to meet with an academic advisor to discuss their academic course plan and resources. Appeals should be written in a separate document and then copy/pasted into the online appeal form. Students are strongly encouraged to take this process seriously, and with careful consideration.
Dates and Deadlines
- The deadline for appeals for the Fall 2024 semester is 5pm on Friday, August 9.

Returning Students
How to Appeal a Dismissal
Students who were dismissed and not enrolled in the most recent fall or spring semester may appeal for readmission. Students who wish to begin this process must first apply for readmission to the University of Missouri. After the application has been submitted, an appeal form will be sent to the student.
Appeals are reviewed on an ongoing basis and, while A&S does not have a deadline for submission, we strongly recommend students who wish to seek readmission submit all materials no later than two weeks prior to the start of the semester.
Students appealing for readmission are also strongly encouraged to meet with their A&S academic advisor to develop an appropriate course plan.
Academic Recovery
Academic notice is used to provide our students with an opportunity to assess where they need to make changes to successfully complete their degree. We encourage students on academic notice to use the University’s extensive support network, University resources and work with their academic advisor to develop and follow a recommended improvement plan. Please direct any academic standing questions to Ruth Crozier, Director of Advising, via email at crozierr@missouri.edu.
Recovery Resources
We take a holistic approach to supporting students and recognize that a number of factors impact student success. This list of resources is not exhaustive but is often used when students are in academic recovery. We believe that academic recovery is an opportunity to reflect on past choices and create new goals for future semesters. If a student is in academic recovery, we strongly recommend they talk with their advisor. The more they communicate, the more we can help! We welcome any questions about the process, including how to get started. Please direct all questions to our Advising Office via email at muasadvising@missouri.edu.
Academic Planning and Advising Support
Students are strongly encouraged to work with their advisor to adjust their academic plans, as needed, and to make the best decisions to maximize academic success. Please note that students on academic warning are required to meet with their academic advisor to create a followable academic plan.
In addition to meeting with their current academic advisor, students may also want to learn more about Mizzou's Discovery Center. It provides academic direction and support to undergraduate students who are exploring multiple academic pathways, in collaboration with the Career Center, Learning Center, Transfer Center, MU Connect, and the Center for Academic Success and Excellence (CASE).
Academic Support
The Learning Center offers a wide range of academic support services, including tutoring, academic coaching and exam reviews. Many students find the Learning Center resources to be an integral part of their academic success.
In addition, students in academic recovery may want to explore courses designed to help support academic success. Student Success Center (SSC) courses help students learn how to become proactive, responsible self-advocates through the utilization of various strategies and skills that lead to academic success.
Students connected with the TRiO support services office as well as the Center for Academic Success and Excellence (CASE) are strongly encouraged to connect with these offices on an ongoing, continual basis.
Accessibility and accommodations
The Disability Center supports students with documented disabilities by helping establish accommodation plans and allowing for equal educational opportunity at Mizzou.
Financial Support
The Office for Financial Success can help students improve their financial well-being with 1:1 financial coaching meetings and courses on financial wellness.
Student Financial Aid helps students and their families understand financial resources, including scholarships.
Health and Well-Being
Student Health and Well-Being is a network of centers and professionals that support students' medical care, mental health and wellness. This collaborative approach to well-being includes the Counseling Center, Student Health Center and Wellness Resource Center.
Technology and Computing Support
The Division of IT Tech Support is the primary point of contact for technology support at MU. Services include online, phone and in-person support.
The Mizzou Store TigerTech Service Desk provides in-person walk-up support. Located at the back of TigerTech, the service desk provides centralized and convenient service for students, faculty, and staff.
All students should check their official University email at least once daily to make sure that important announcements, updates, and information from other campus offices aren’t missed.
