Bio
As Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies, Chris Josey is a champion for student success, both in and outside the classroom. Dr. Josey sees the value of preparing students for their careers, graduate and professional school, or service roles. He advocates for pairing classroom instruction with experiential learning to ensure students are ready for what’s next.

As the A&S Faculty Fellow for Undergraduate Research, he led the development of the Summer Research Exposure Program to connect faculty and undergraduates and the Support for Undergraduate Research Activities and Travel program for upperclassman to gain additional professional development. Both programs are highly successful, bringing new ways for faculty to engage with undergraduates in their research, and expanding the reach of undergraduate research opportunities for A&S students.

Dr. Josey joins the A&S Dean’s team as a champion for student success and a strategic leader. He leads the Advising and Student Success teams as well as Career Development, and acts as an important bridge between undergraduates and faculty through various committees focused on curriculum, strategic planning, and high impact practices.

While an assistant teaching professor in the Department and Communication, Dr. Josey was named a William T. Kemper Fellow in 2023 and was recognized as the Undergraduate Research Mentor of the Year in 2022. He earned both an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
