As Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies, Nicole Monnier is as a champion for student success.  

Dr. Monnier leads A&S undergraduate student recruitment and advising efforts through a student-first approach. She is committed to improving access by aligning scholarship funds toward need, while enhancing policies and practices focused on retention and successful degree completion. Dr. Monnier seeks to align student success strategies by collaborating with the college's directors of undergraduate studies and campus partners, including undergraduate deans and advising leadership, as well as campus-level offices and centers such as the MU Career Center and MU Office of Undergraduate Research.  

With a focus on career outcomes, she has led growth in internship access as well as student participation in the CAFNR/A&S Career and Internship Fair. She sees the impact of classroom plus experiential learning and is committed to the high-impact practices that enhance the student experience, which has led to investments in undergraduate research, study abroad, and summer internship opportunities. Additionally, Dr. Monnier champions accessibility by seeking facility, curricular, and pedagogical improvements by removing policy barriers and enhancing communication to students.    

Dr. Monnier has received several awards including the William T. Kemper Fellowship, the Mizzou Alumni Association Faculty and Alumni Award, The Ann K. Covington Award for Mentorship, two Purple Chalk Awards for Teaching, and a Blue Chalk Award for Advising from the A&S Student Council. She is a Russian professor of more than 20 years and continues to teach, mentor students, and develop new curricula for A&S and her home department in the School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. 

Dr. Monnier holds a Bachelor of Arts in Russian from Mount Holyoke College and a PhD in Slavic Literatures and Languages from Princeton University.
