D Cornelison, professor of Biological Sciences and Molecular Microbiology and Immunology, received the Missouri Faculty Award. This award recognizes exceptional faculty members who contribute to the university’s growth and core mission through their contributions, teaching and/or research excellence. Cornelison provides significant outreach to those without a scientific background through her organization of the Saturday Morning Science program, where a series scientific topics are covered in introductory levels over coffee and bagels.
Cornelison, a leading researcher in the field of skeletal muscle stem cells, has spent the last two decades spearheading new techniques and discoveries utilized by labs globally. In 2017, Cornelison received the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers by the White House. She is the first Mizzou scientist to receive this prestigious award, and only the second in Missouri.
