The College of Arts and Science is delighted to announce that two students within the Division of Biological Sciences have been named the first recipients of the Go Beyond Scholarship. A&S faculty and staff surprised Vlada Gladun and Katie Gunter with the exciting news on Friday, March 18, 2022. Gladun and Gunter are both undergraduate students in their junior year at Mizzou.

The scholarship is sponsored by Los Angeles-based company Beyond Meat, Inc. Recipients receive a $10,000 scholarship that can be renewed the following year if they meet criteria such as maintaining their GPA.

Rising juniors currently enrolled in the College of Arts and Science, College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources, and the College of Engineering at MU with a cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 or higher were eligible to apply for the scholarship. Preferred fields of study include chemistry, biology, biochemistry, biological engineering, chemical engineering, food science and nutrition, mechanical engineering, physics, and plant science.

Beyond Meat, Inc. specializes in crafting a plant-based vegan meat. The company opened a production facility in Columbia in 2018.
