Aigen Li, PhD, a professor in Physics and Astronomy, was part of a team of researchers who discovered a new technique for taking the temperature of a supermassive star, Betelgeuse. Their research involved looking for specific chemicals within observation of the star at the Weihai Observatory in Shandong, China. The discovery showed that temperatures increased in line with great brightness.
