Melissa Horner, a doctoral student in sociology, was recently awarded the Jordan Hoyt Memorial Tribute to Women Award by the University of Missouri Chancellor’s Committee on the Status of Women. The annual award is presented to a student, faculty, and staff member who go above and beyond to contribute to an environment of equity, fairness, and justice for women on campus. 

Horner has demonstrated respect for the diversity of women’s experiences and helped to promote the advancement of women through education and advocacy, including serving as chair of the 2023 Native American Heritage Month committee.
