Jacob Lowell Cook

Jacob Lowell Cook, a graduate student from Mizzou’s Department of Physics and Astronomy, has been selected for the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) program.

This nationwide program awards funds and research facility access to graduate students whose research projects address critical energy, environmental, and nuclear challenges at national and international scales.

Cook — one of 86 graduate students nationally selected for this program — will study materials sciences and chemistry for microelectronics at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee. At Oak Ridge, a DOE National Laboratory, Cook will receive world-class training and access to state-of-the-art facilities to perform his research.

The SCGSR program is meant to advance awardees’ overall doctoral research and training, prepare them for jobs of critical importance to DOE missions, and secure the DOE’s national position at the forefront of discovery and innovation.
