Nicky Beer, a College of Arts & Science alum, was recently awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship for Poetry.
Beer, an award-winning poet, earned her PhD in English/Creative Writing from the University of Missouri in 2007. She is an associate professor at the University of Colorado Denver and a poetry editor for the Copper Nickel, a national literary journal. Her poems have been published in Poetry, The Best American Poetry, The Kenyon Review, The Nation, The New Yorker and The Southern Review.
Guggenheim Fellowships are awarded to mid-career individuals who have demonstrated "exceptional capacity for productive scholarship or exceptional creative ability in the arts and exhibit great promise for their future endeavors." Nearly 175 Fellowships are awarded each year.
