Two Department of Political Science doctoral candidates recently received awards recognizing their outstanding work: Yujin Julia Jung received the Robert N. Epsten Scholarship in International Studies; and Elizabeth Dorssom received the Excellence in Teaching Award from the Graduate Professional Council.
Jung, whose research focuses on comparative politics and international relations, received $10,000 from the Harry S Truman Good Neighbor Award Foundation and the MU Graduate School. The Epsten scholarship is given to an exceptional graduate student majoring in the fields of international relations, public service, political science, diplomacy, history, or the humanities. The award is reflective of President Truman’s interest and involvement in these areas.
Dorssom, whose research focuses on the impact of resources on politics and policy —specifically in how resources such as information, institutionalization, and professionalism impact policy adoption and feedback —received her teaching award for her demonstration of outstanding commitment to teaching and education through Mizzou’s core values of respect, responsibility, discovery, and excellence.
