U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) recently awarded A&S's Department of Architectural Studies its first-ever Zero Energy Design Designation (ZEDD) seal of recognition. This new DOE designation distinguishes Architectural Studies as one that teaches best practices of zero-energy design to its students and requires them to apply those building science concepts in actual projects.

"I'm extremely proud of the visionary leadership of department chair Lyria Bartlett and the hard work and dedication of the faculty and staff that led to this important, national designation," said Cooper Drury, Dean of the College of Arts & Science. "It shows their dedication toward providing Missouri's future architectural leaders a leading-edge education in using sustainable building techniques. This is exactly the level of academic excellence we strive to provide all our students and the state of Missouri."

A&S's Architectural Studies is one of only 17 post-secondary academic programs in the nation to receive the ZEDD designation.
