Awarded to an outstanding graduate student in painting or drawing enrolled in the MFA program. Recipients must have successfully completed nine hours of graduate work and continue in the program during the semester following the award. Award is based on merit, as determined by the evaluation of a portfolio of original work in drawing or painting during graduate training. Finalists must appear before judges for a personal interview to explain their work and professional aspirations. Financial need may be taken into consideration only in the event that the judges cannot decide between two equally qualified candidates.
