Col. John K. Holsonback (Ret.) Award in Military Science

To provide three annual and distinct awards in the spring semester to students in the Department of Military Science and Leadership as follows:
The "Army Physical Fitness Test Improvement Award"
a. - Shall be awarded to the cadet classified as MS I, MS II, or MS III who demonstrated the most improvement on their APFT from the fall to spring semester of the academic school year.

The "Grade Point Average Improvement Award"
a. - Shall be awarded to the cadet classified as MS I, MS II or MS III who has demonstrated the most improvement on his or her academic GPA from the fall to spring semester of the academic school year.

The "Leadership/Community Involvement Scholarship Award"
a. - Shall be awarded to any cadet classified as MS I, MS II or MS III who has had the biggest impact on all cadets as a leader during the academic year.
b. - Selection shall be based on votes from Army ROTC cadets: the cadet with the most votes will receive the award.
c. - To be eligible, a cadet must have at least 20 hours of community service within the academic year. Cadets must sign a log that outlines where they volunteered, how they volunteered, the total time they volunteered and references that can verify the volunteering activity.

The recipients for each of the three awards do not have to be contracted cadets. A recipient's financial need shall not be a factor in selection
