W. Randall Coil was born and raised in Independence, Missouri. Following graduation from the University of Missouri, he started a small remodeling and construction company, Coil Construction.

Coil’s involvement in every aspect of the company, from working in the field to handling accounting duties, helped him develop a keen sense of what it takes to deliver service to the client. With an eye on the commercial industry, Coil Construction has grown into an entity doing business in multiple states and specializing in retail, professional, industrial, institutional, Greek housing, and health care construction.

During his 40 years in the construction business, Coil has stayed true to his commitment to not only build quality buildings, but to build a better community as a whole. He is a past president of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce and is involved in a range of community organizations including the Boone County Historical Society, Broadway Christian Church, Boy Scouts of America–Great Rivers Council as council past president and troop committee chair, CEO Magazine editorial advisory board, and the Columbia Art League. He also gives his time to The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri, Friends of the President of the University of Missouri, the Jefferson Club, the Missouri 100, the Tiger Scholarship Fund, and he is a consultant for the Welcome Home program for veterans.

Coil lives in Columbia with his wife, Cydney.
