E.O. Wilson
The Future of Life

E. O. WilsonIn 2001, Edward O. Wilson was rightfully hailed as one of America’s Most Influential People by Time Magazine. In his illustrious career, Wilson has won two Pulitzer Prizes, one Craaford Prize (the highest award given in the field of ecology), and countless other honors. He is the founder of the field of Sociobiology and has written numerous best-selling books on the sciences. In his eighth decade, E.O. Wilson remains one of the most respected and outspoken advocates of environmental conservation.

"In The Future of Life E.O. Wilson delivers an impassioned plea for a new human ethic based on a wiser, more careful stewardship of our vanishing natural world. Wilson invites us to share his optimism that we still have an opportunity to save the living things and wild places that sustain us and give us hope."

— Kathryn S. Fuller, President, World Wildlife Fund

Wilson's most recent work, The Future of Life, is the culmination of his many years in the field of conservation. A heartfelt plea for understanding and action, the book attempts, as Jared Diamond says, "a synthesis of all ways of knowing." Published in January of 2002, The Future of Life debuted in Publishers Weekly’s "Top Ten" list on its first day of official publication. Such is the importance of Wilson’s thought.

Dr. Wilson's lectures combine detailed academic study with a palatable common sensibility. His ability to translate enormous, complex concepts into easily digestible narrative is unmatched in this field.

Edward O. Wilson is the Pellegrino University Professor of Biology at Harvard University. His books include The Ants, The Diversity of Life, Sociobiology: The New Synthesis, and Consilience.
