English 20 or equivalent, with a grade in "C" range.

of single language in high school fulfills requirement.

One course in American History or Government; will also partially meet
a Social Science General Education requirement.

Two writing intensive (WI) courses in residence, grade in "C" range.
One WI must be upper level course in major. Prerequisite for all WI

One math reasoning proficiency (MP) course, grade in "C" range. Prerequisite
for all MP courses is Math 10 or equivalent.

Computer and Information Proficiency. (Applies to students entering

1996 and after.)

One course with science lab required. Courses in Math and Statistics
must have College Algebra as prerequisite to fulfill General education
requirements. Majors in Biology, Chemistry, Geology and Physics
meet this requirement by completing the degree. Computer Science
majors need only meet the lab course requirement.

Anthropology, Psychology, Sociology and theoretical courses in Linguistics

Geography (except courses in cartography, meteorology and climatology),
Economics, History, and Political Science
-
Art appreciation, Music appreciation, Art History, Classical civilizations,
Foreign civilizations, Literature, Communication courses concerned
with the history of public speaking and broadcasting, Philosophy,
Religious Studies, Theatre history and appreciation, upperclass (100
level or above, if taken at MU) courses in the creative and performing
arts, Humanities sequence courses (General Honors 101, 102, 103, 104).

Majors in Biology, Chemistry, Geology and Physics must complete
three courses numbered 100 or higher (if courses taken at MU) in two
of the following three areas: Behavioral Sciences; Social Sciences;
Humanities and Fine Arts.

All other majors must complete three courses numbered 100 or higher
(if courses taken at MU) in two of the following four areas: Biological,
Physical, and Mathematical Sciences; Behavioral Sciences; Social Sciences;
Humanities and Fine Arts.

Research, problems, and methods courses may not be used to meet General
Education requirements.

Selected interdisciplinary courses (i.e., Honors College, Black Studies,
Peace Studies, and Women Studies) may be counted toward fulfillment
of General Education requirements.
Courses which meet General Education requirements are listed on a
student's degree audit.

A program of related courses including a major (at least 18
and no more than 40 hours) and a minor (at least 15 hours) or a related
field (at least 8 hours). At least 12 hours of upperclass course work
(200 level) toward the major must be completed on the MU campus. Upperclass
courses with grades in the "D" range may not be included on the "Area"
without Dean's approval. To file an Area of Concentration a student
must complete English 20 (with a grade in the "C range"), Math 10
(with a grade in the "C range"), and be in good academic standing.
Some departments have additional requirements for admission to,
and /or graduation from the degree program. Please check with
the department.

A minimum of 120 credit hours must be completed for graduation.

Students must pass a minimum of 30 hours in courses numbered 200
level or above (if taken at MU), including courses in the area of
concentration. Advanced ROTC courses are excluded.

The last 30 hours of course work for the degree must be completed
on the MU campus.

Correspondence and extension courses are not considered to be "courses
in residence."

Correspondence courses cannot be taken while enrolled except with
Dean's approval.

Students must have a grade point average of 2.0 in the following
categories:
-
1) A minimum 2.0 MU GPA in all courses taken in the major as well
as the related field or minor.
-
2) A minimum 2.0 cumulative MU GPA is required.
-
3) A minimum 2.0 MU GPA in courses taken after student completes
60 hours of credit.

4) A minimum 2.0 MU GPA in all courses taken in the final 30 hours
