Giving to Arts and Science: The Mosaic Society
The Mosaic Society debuted in 2000 as a way to recognize major benefactors who set a standard for commitment to the College of Arts and Science.
Membership
Membership in the Mosaic Society is open to alumni of the College of Arts and Science, other friends and University-affiliated, nonprofit organizations. Joint memberships are available for alumni and their spouses.
Six levels of sustaining membership are available to individuals who meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Contribute or pledge over 10 years one of the amounts listed. All prior gifts to the College of Arts and Science and company matching gifts count toward membership. Irrevocable trusts qualify as outright gifts.
- Provide funding by means of a bequest, life insurance or other type of testamentary gift.
Annual Membership
Annual members contribute gifts of at least $1,000 during any calendar year. Memberships are renewable on January 1. All annual membership contributions count toward sustaining membership requirements.
Gifts
Membership eligibility is established through gifts or pledges to any Arts and Science department or program of the donor’s choice.
Designated gifts are invited for whatever fund or purpose the donor desires, provided such use is for a legitimate college purpose.
Donors may request that their gifts be placed in a special endowment fund named for the donor or someone else. Earnings realized from such funds are used to support the purpose of the endowment. The minimum amount for an endowment is $25,000 payable over five years.
Donors also may designate their gifts as unrestricted to support the needs of the College that cannot be met with state funds, such as scholarships, fellowships, research, faculty enhancement and many others.
Benefits
Mosaic Society members share the pleasure of partnership with the College of Arts and Science in preparing today's scholars and those of future generations.
All members receive invitations to special campus and regional events, including an annual black-tie dinner.
All members receive a unique Mosaic Society lapel pin.
Sustaining members are presented with a marble paperweight bearing the Mosaic Society logo.
