Faculty Incentive Grants

In recognition of the ingenuity of faculty members within the College of Arts and Science, the Arts and Science Alumni Organization offers limited funding. These funds may be used for research purposes, scholarship of teaching or professional development projects. Individual award levels range from $500 to $1,500.
Funding categories
The research enhancement category supports pilot research, either in its initial phase or as part of an ongoing work and projects that demonstrate collaboration with colleagues. Projects that include undergraduate research students are a high priority.
The professional development category supports opportunities to further knowledge pertaining to teaching as an enterprise, and instructional development projects that can serve as models for other faculty. The focus may be on development of innovative teaching methods, such as developing alternatives to lecture.
The scholarship of teaching category supports research and/or dissemination of research results on the impact of one’s teaching. Funds can be used to design and conduct an investigation of the impact of one’s teaching on student learning, satisfaction and retention, or on faculty productivity and effectiveness.
Grant funding may cover the following:
- Travel, if it is essential for project development or the attainment of new skill. Travel grants can cover transportation, registration and lodging costs.
- Any necessary costs associated with a project, including supplies, equipment, student assistance, testing instruments and registration fees, as well as transportation and lodging costs for the grant recipient and any collaborators.
