iPods in the Language Classroom  

Examples of uses in teaching: 

Downloadable content - students can download any audio files the instructor provides, including audio materials that are packaged with the textbook (with publisher permission)

iPod as a digital recording device (in class, to be turned in for evaluation)–

• in-class pronunciation activities

• recording pair work or small group work

• recording spontaneous speech

iPod as a digital recording device (outside of class)–

• interview projects with local native speakers of the target language

• on-site descriptions of things like art, events, daily activities, places

• “treasure hunt”, including listening to and giving formal/informal commands and direction taking/giving

• reflection journal for study abroad

It is suggested that you use iTunesU, WebCT or Blackboard as a means for students to upload their audio work.
